Interviews\Camera Shots\Techniques

INTERVIEWING:
• What seven items should you bring with you when you are shooting an interview?
(Clocks Tick Tock Making Heads Pound Loudly)
C- camera
T - tape
T-tripod
M- Microphone
H-headphones
P-Power Source
L-Light Source

• Shooting into a light source = lights should be behind the camera

Button to adjust = Backlight button or add light

• Where do you want your light source? behind the camera

• On what object should you focus the camera?the nose or eyes

• No tripod= BAD

• Date and Time= dont

• What's the difference between SP/EP?SP-standard play
EP-Extended play
• Camera shoots in _SP_______________.

• Pre-Roll- 2-3 seconds before you start shooting

• Post-Roll- 2-3 seconds after you stop recording

CAMERA SHOTS:

***BACKGROUND: Dynamic

• 1 Shot= middle of the chest to above the head

• 1 Shot with graphic= pan a little to the side for a graphic

• 2 Shot= only when anchors are interacting together.

• CU- close up

• MS-medium shot

• LS- long shot

• ECU- extreme close up

• Rule of thirds- Imaginary lines are drawn dividing the image into thirds both horizontally and vertically.


CAMERA MOVEMENTS:
• Tilt- up and down

• Pan- side to side

• Zoom- close to the subject or further away

• Dolly-

LIGHTS
• Key- the strongest light at a 45 degree angle pointed at the person

• Fill-Fills in the dark spot of the subject

• Back- separates the subject from the background.

MICROPHONES:
• Unidirectional- the microphone is in one direction
• Omnidirectional pointed in all directions
• Cardiod- Heart shaped
• Lav/Lapel Microphone-clip on to a shirt
• Boom Microphone- held over the subject out of view on a stick
