In what ways is mobile technology changing our society?
Stu Daly

There are many new forms of mobile technology that have been coming out lately. From skype and webcams to the new smart phones and handheld computers. With all the new technology people are starting to change the way they do things. It makes everything a lot easier and faster which might be good with the fast world that we live in but it could also be bad, we might be come lazy and have technology fix all of our problems and make everything easier.
New technology can be very good for us but it also has its downsides.  Its good because it allows us to connect with our friends and family that do not live close to us by skyping or if they have the new iphone 4 facetimeing them. We can also search and find more things faster on the internet and with our phones. A while ago the phone companies were all advertising their 3g networks and I thought that was as far as it was going to go but now all of the phone companies are advertising their 4g networks, I’m just wondering how far it’ll go, 12 g networks?  I’ve noticed my life is a lot easier with a smart phone that I have internet on, I can check all my forms of social networking as well as let people know plans faster via texting. My parents can also get a hold of me a lot easier now. I can also check my bank account, and my grades with my phone. I almost don’t need a computer anymore. I think sometime in the future they will invent a device that has everything in one a phone computer and TV all in one little handheld device. Apple has already come close to this with the new ipad all it needs is a phone and a TV and it has everything, and I’m pretty sure there capable of doing that in the near future.
I think that in 10 years everything we do will have some sort of technology involved, in other words technology will run our lives and make it easier for us to live day to day. Whether you like it or not that’s probably what’s going to happen. Your cell phone will be able to drive your car and make dinner for you pretty soon. Everyone has their own opinion on the fact, I’m all for it I think our lives will be much easier with more technology in our lives but others think it will totally change us for the worse. Either way you look at it. Its going to happen.

Blogging: focus free write

I think that the people who get fired from their jobs because of their blogs is crazy, i think they should be able to say whatever they want to say on them. for some people its probably a way to relieve stress about work just to write about it, so co-workers and their bosses shouldn't get upset. there is obviously a point to where someone could get fired for having a blog that threatens someone or something along those lines but if they are just talking about notmal problems at work i think thats fine. i dont see myself blogging at all in the future im not really into writing and things like that but i could see how it would be good for someone to do if they were into that stuff.

i think social networking is a good thing because it allows people to talk to friends and family that are far away or even right down the street. if there wasnt such a thing as social networking my nights would probably be a lot more boring then they are now. and i think if you took some social networks away from some people they would actually get mad. the one bad thing about it though that i will admit is that they are very distracting. i know that myspace, facebook, and formspring alwats distract me from whatever else im doing, i'll get an e-mail on my phone that someone asked me a question or wrote on my wall and i have to go see it.

The Truman Show Paper

The Truman Show Paper
Stu Daly
Period 2

The idea in which the Truman Show is based on could be debated if it is ethically right to have someone live their whole life for a TV show without knowing it. That is why this movie has so many supporters or doubters, in other words most people either love the movie or hate it. I happen to be one of those people who love it. The Truman Show depicts several interesting areas of the video production through cinematography, special effects, and other technical aspects.
The first reason why I enjoy the movie so much is because of the cinematography. The way the movie is filmed is very creative and unique. I like it because they made a movie about filming a show and they managed to do it very well. The way they portrayed Christof in the movie was kind of like a god like figure since he was the creator of the show, at first I didn’t understand who he was but towards the end I realized it which made the movie more interesting. With all of the cameras that they used I’m sure it was very hard to get them all to get good shots and even more the editing of the film must have been very long and tedious, you can tell by the way it is put together. Another reason why this movie is so impressive is because of the lighting that had to be calculated properly for all of the different camera shots. I can tell they took a long time to make this movie, probably more than others that were released around the same time. There are many aspects of the filming that made this movie as good as it is. You can tell that the people who made this movie were experts and knew what they were doing, that is why I like this movie so much.
The second thing to me that makes this movie as good as it is were the special effects, one of my favorite parts in the movie was when Truman was just sitting there by himself and it started raining just around him for a little bit and then eventually rained everywhere. They used special effects to make the movie funny at most parts but also in the most serious parts like when Christof tries to kill Truman in the big storm out at sea. I feel like the special effects in this film made it great because it enhanced all of the good and bad times that happened. They also did a great job with showing where the whole show took place by saying it was in a big dome and you could see it from space, which helped sort of some of the confusion that I might have had in the beginning of the movie. In some movies they over do the special effects but in this one I felt like it was just the right amount, even though the idea of the movie wasn’t very believable it made it just a little more realistic with the special effects. Along with the cinematography the special effects in this film make it a more interesting movie to watch.
Another thing that I like about this movie is all of the technical things that went into making this film. The fact that they used so many cameras is amazing because they had to tie everyone of those together to come up with the shots they did and they did a great job of that. I like the way that they tied in the people watching the show on TV to the actual show and showed their reactions when something big would happen. I thought I thought this movie was a little slow and confusing in the beginning but the way they had the technical things set up tied it all together and made it that much better of a movie. Like I said earlier they made it look like an actual TV show because everything was so real. Other than the cinematography and the special effects the technical aspect also made this movie good.
What makes the Truman Show a great film is the cinematography, special effects, and the technical aspects. So next time you want to sit down and watch a movie pick up the Truman Show and think about if its ethically right and also pay attention to all of the things I talked about and see if you like it just as much as I did.

story

The Minnesota twins are in a perfect spot to win a world series in the inaugural season at target field. They have already clinched the central division and with a current record of 92 wins and 60 losses the post season is looking very optimistic for the team. I interviewed some Eastview students who are fans of the team to see what they thought the twins chances are in the post season.
-How far do you think the twins will go into the post season?
Jake- I think it depends on what they Yankees do, if the Yankees do well then I think the twins will not make it very far.

The twins biggest competition in the post season will most likely be the new York Yankees they have to get by them to get to the world series and the Yankees have showed in the past that they are a stronger team then the twins in the post season. I asked Scottie what he thought the twins biggest strength was in the post season…

Scottie- I think the biggest strength is our defense and our depth is better than any other team.

The team has shown great fielding this year with a .988 fielding percentage which is second in the American league to the Yankees. Who is your favorite player on the team and why?

Joe- My favorite player would be Jim Thome because he's a consistent power hitter and gets the fans in the game.

The twins have been through a great season already but I'm sure everyone would like to see them go all the way and win the world series.itter
